CommunOT Farm and Programming

A peace sign, a muddy pig, and pure joy. ✌️🐷 This is exactly what happens when we step outside clinic walls and let the farm be our therapeutic canvas. What began as a routine bucket clean-out instantly turned into a rich, kid-led sensory experience with Petunia (who was very pleased to have some fresh mud). To happily engage in the wet, unpredictable texture of mud and animals takes incredible sensory processing. You can see the calm, grounded confidence in his smile. That is the exact goal of our OT sessions: helping kids feel secure and capable in their own skin. The farm provides the space, the animals provide the motivation, and the breakthroughs happen naturally. 🧡🌱 #PediatricOT #CommunOTfarm #FarmTherapy #NatureBasedOT #SpringAcres

When you look at a child proudly holding a chicken, you might just see a sweet summer memory. But in the world of occupational therapy, we see a quiet moment of pure bravery and neurological growth. To hold a live animal, a child has to completely calm their own nervous system first. They have to tune out the world, take a deep breath, and match the gentle energy of the animal in their hands. Without even realizing it, they are practicing graded muscle control—figuring out exactly how much pressure to use so the chicken feels safe, but doesn’t fly away. It’s the very same deep-muscle awareness they need to judge how hard to press a pencil on paper or how gently to treat a friend. But the absolute best part? The shift in their confidence. When a child realizes they can handle the big, unpredictable elements of a farm, their internal belief in what they can accomplish completely changes. That confidence doesn’t stay at the barn door. It follows them home, into the classroom, and into every new challenge they face. The farm provides a space where kids don’t feel like they’re working on hard therapy goals—they are just enjoying childhood and thriving. 🌿 If you want to help your child build real-world confidence and physical skills in a supportive, screen-free environment, we would love to welcome them to our nature & farm based occupational therapy program. 🔗 Click the link in our bio to schedule your free consultation

Could Emotion Code be the answer to your child’s growth? As parents, we see it all the time. Sudden behavioral shifts, intense meltdowns over tiny transitions, restless sleep, or big emotions that seem to come out of nowhere. We try changing the routine, adjusting schedules, and implementing new parenting strategies—but sometimes, it feels like we’re bumping up against an invisible wall. Here is what is often missing: It might not be a behavior problem. It might be an emotional overload. When a child experiences intense frustration, stress, or sensory overwhelm, that emotion is a wave of energy. If their nervous system can’t fully process it, that energy can get physically “stuck” in the body. Over time, those trapped emotions pile up like heavy rocks in a backpack, making it exhausting for them to just regulate and navigate their day. Enter the Emotion Code. 🌿 The Emotion Code is a gentle, non-invasive modality that communicates directly with the body’s subconscious to identify and release those exact “rocks”—one by one. Your child doesn’t have to sit still for hours, and they don’t have to recount a stressful day. Each session is conducted remotely as your families go on with your daily lives. If you think this may be the piece of the puzzle that has been missing for your family reach out - we offer free consultations to learn more. Start your child’s healing journey today! #CommunOTfarm #EmotionCode #PediatricOT

Did you know that tortoises experience lasting moods? A study by the University of Lincoln found that Red-footed tortoises living in enriched, stimulating environments actually show signs of being optimistic! When these forest explorers have space to roam and “puzzles” to solve, they approach their world with a “glass half full” attitude. At CommunOT Farm and Programming, we curate these enriched spaces so our animals—and our families—can thrive at nature’s pace. How can you tell if a tortoise is happy and optimistic? -The “Basking Sploot”: Stretching their neck and back legs out completely straight in total relaxation. -Active Problem Solving: Eagerly engaging in enrichment activities (like Mustang is doing here!) to find their favorite snacks. -Nature Detective Spirit: A curious, wandering spirit that is always investigating new items in their path. -Bright, Alert Eyes: Tracking movement and staying engaged with their surroundings. Watching Mustang use his intuition to solve this challenge is a great reminder of the sentient, intelligent partners we work with. #RedFootedTortoise #CommunOTfarm #AnimalSentience #NatureBasedWellness #ScienceOfJoy
